I thought the grind to 65 att along with def, then str (somehow believed I had def instead of str to get in the warrior guild) was a long mill and I was only going from 60. I grinded out 70s and realized my grind was tame. Next got 80s and felt that the 70 grind was tame. I have 81/84/79 89 range 80 mage and 70 prayer and don't really remember the grinds. For me the grind that is current feels like the preceding one. I am already half way to 91 and only got 90 farming. Some skills I really do hate though. Fletching is simply 57 I think and I train it so my Tears of Guthix visit RC. I also hate thieving. RC is bad and agility is ok.
I think that is normal man. I mean nothing AMAZING like real life accomplishments, although that I get a sense of achievement and I love it, it's a video game after all! If you are expecting some big feeling of achievement I believe that you are going to always be disappointed, or Runescape is creeping up and maybe getting too big a part of your life (I've been there when I was younger throughout rs2). I believe that the thing that can get dangerous is that people begin to get most of their feeling of accomplishment during RuneScape game, and unlike real life, If you set the time in you WILL accomplish your goal no matter what. However, as you have seen, it does not mean anything and it isn't satisfying like life.
The quests try to be diverse and fascinating in their style. Evidently, if you consult a quest guide to prep all of the materials ahead, do not read any of the dialog, and attempt to blitz them as fast as possible, you're going to feel like an errand boy. Because you've stripped out all the portions of the quests that are not errands. I maintain a checklist of all of the things I wish to do, always adding onto and eliminating things out of it. So when I get sick of doing one task, I could do one of those half a dozen other things I had lined up.
