Take-Two Interactive surprised many in March as it announced a new partnership with the NFL to make a run soccer Madden NFL beginning in calendar 2021. But in late May, EA announced a brand new multi-year deal with the NFL that promises to expand the Madden franchise to more programs, genres, and esports programs. Here's what this could mean for the growth of the Madden franchise.
The NFL has undergone back-to-back seasons of rating increases throughout the 2019 year, and it clearly sees interactive amusement as a significant method to cultivate viewership with a brand new creation. In a statement, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said:"The expansion of the partnership isn't merely about the continuing success of the Madden NFL franchise but also the creation of new paths for our fans to connect with the game they enjoy." Since the launching of Madden NFL 20 at August 2019, unique gamers are up 30% year over year and yearly average users are at an all-time large, as EA revealed in a press release on May 28.
Back in April, player amounts in Madden have doubled year over year, which reflects the boost EA has experienced throughout the COVID-19 pandemic with people at home. On May 5, EA reported that an increase in electronic net bookings of 9% year over year for fiscal 2020 (that finished in March), driven by large involvement across the organization's premium titles, including Madden. Now, the NFL is giving more ways to EA to create interactive adventures that could see further expansion for both parties. Madden could see growth during the subsequent five years. Compared to Take-Two received using its NFL partnership EA is getting more out of this deal. Take-Two's agreement makes it to make a series of non-simulation football Madden NFL aimed at a casual crowd, whereas EA keeps the right to keep on making simulation football Madden NFL that mimic actual football playbooks and plan, but there is much more.
