Because regardless of this sentiment, this remains 100% a company and marketing maneuver.

I'll preface this by saying I don't think it's a terrible thing for them to bring awareness to this issue. It's important that it can't just be ignored by taking a look from it. That said, I really do hold a certain amount of doubt towards multi-billion dollar multinational corporations paying lip service to important social problems. They are in the best possible place to do more than simply put out a press release or public announcement. Of course, as a capitalist business they're under no obligation to do so, and yet it rings hollow when they try to stand in solidarity with the common people. Now there are businesses out there that do things and this is the opportunity to emphasize those efforts; to demonstrate that they're more than simply words.
I would generally agree in the event of paying lip service to social problems without also putting cash and support to advocate for change or applying it to the organization and their job in the very least. Having said that police brutality is not just something that a company like EA throwing cash at the issue does much towards fixing. At best they place money towards the lawyers and groups that struggle to see justice after the fact or lobby to have laws changed that in the current government won't. It's systemic issues within authorities of not reporting their own and holding them liable rather staying quiet and with the police unions which allow it all to happen or in ways even encourage it by the repercussions being a slap on the wrist followed by being hired at another precinct showing them there is no consequences. Before even getting to laws and rulings like qualified immunity that shield abusive cops and allow them to abuse their power . The majority of that EA and many capitalist companies are not able to perform so much about making it unfair to state they are at the best possible place to do more.
The ones in the best possible position to do more are the assumed great cops by no more staying quiet and allowing bad cops to eliminate their abuse of power or voting to get better direction for their unions that won't enable the behaviour. However, of course it is just words. Businesses will only ever do these things once public opinion has turned one way. Because after decades of corporations doing things for the wrong reason, people are extremely cynical. Even if all businesses ceased doing things wrong, it'll take a long, long time for this image of corporate America to lose its tarnish. Part of what people can do is pick politicians that at least promise that they'll hold these corporations accountable. It probably wont happen by itself. This would be much easier if someone like this may run for office successfully.
Because regardless of this sentiment, this remains 100% a company and marketing maneuver. If they truly wanted to do something positive, they can do it without advertising their merchandise while doing so. Because it's not genuine. This is not any different than the coronavirus commercials. They could have said nothing in any way. Rather, they attracted positive attention to the protests. That is good. Solidarity or else they realize a nice chunk of the audience is obsessed with something more important than a damn videogame? Man. These comments really highlight the nihilistic character of reddit users. Yes, this really is a company. Yes, it has something to do with advertising. But Jesus, can't we be happy that firms are stating something? Do you not know just how much of an effect this could create? In the event the firm ignored the situation, it would give every checked out thoughts the concept that what's happening is ordinary and regular.
