2K21 also fixes a few of the annoying issues I brought up in my review, as players can now alter the camera angle in high school, college, and the G League. Despite some strong adjustments and additions, MyCareer still feels incredibly grindy. VC is hard to find unless you dump a part-time project's worth of hours into the game, or crack open your wallet. Players can now jump in the W, a style that lets them create their own WNBA celebrity. It's an wonderful slice of representation to an often ignored basketball league, although the mode is not nearly as fleshed out as 2K21's other center manners. Composed of a lot of smaller parks and areas, The City is almost a massive version of The Neighborhood. There is more courts, that can be fine, but the experts stop there. You still have to purchase a ball for 25k VC simply to play with friends on a personal court, and the servers are still very shoddy. NBA 2K21 on next-gen sees a great deal of developments to the basketball sim, but ironically only boosts the regions of the game that were really excellent.
Considering our review of the first release of NBA 2K21, nearly all my cons are still present. MyCareer's narrative remains shallow, the internet servers are still aggressively mediocre, and microtransactions continue to be intrusive. When you include the fact that 2K didn't offer free updates for existing owners, forcing them to either buy the $100 version or purchase it independently for $70, it's hard to say NBA 2K21 on next-gen is the much-needed redemption for a continuously disappointing franchise.
The NBA Draft took place on Wednesday night, and quite honestly, considering the way COVID-19 has affected the development of NBA 2K21 along with the league, I didn't expect to find that the rookies added into the game until next month.However, 2K had a pleasant surprise for fans on Thursday morning. The whole draft class was added to the proper teams, and the transactions which were made official with the league had been upgraded.
2K also smartly utilized the scans in the rookies it utilized in MyTeam for NBA 2K20, also added a couple more to add a little authenticity to the update. Evidently, due to COVID-19, 2K was unable to scan every player.However, the developers did do a fairly solid job using their own create-a-player suite to fill in the gaps for the rookies they had been unable to scan.
