In terms of the newest HUT Hurry, this mode is the only interesting long-term quality that could keep players engaged with NHl 21 in the weeks following its release, since it's fast two minute games are enjoyable and the brutal penalty-fest that all the other game modes have does not exist. It's entertaining and will give a few coins to assist with routine HUT that previous years lacked, further establishing HUT Hurry as the standout invention in NHL 21. Another fresh add-on is the conversations between coaches, players, GMs, and brokers in Be a Guru that added a different dimension to the game, although this one is more muted in its own impact given it does not directly affect on-ice play in precisely the same way HUT Rush's entirely new mode does.
The Madden franchise as well as the FIFA franchise have come under fire recently for producing copies of prior versions, and NHL 21 did the exact same thing - except its foundation game is worse than its rivals, so it is even more egregious in this instance. Even though NHL 21 brings with it some fascinating minor features, the game has not made any significant quality of life improvements with all these new changes. In NHL 21, there is not any soul, and the franchise needs to quit putting out attributes and generate a new NHL game where altering the on-ice product is what sells the item. Dreams of making solid moves that are accurate, no more 55 second games on the penalty kill, and no more glitch goals stay dreams - but shouldn't be the event any lengthy, and hopefully NHL 22 is a top notch restructuring of a series that needs it.
