As this is meant to be a forum for discussion, I will first I'll answer the question, and then post my answer. I'll also make use of the acronym pf2p, which is a reference to pure free-play i.e. a player who has not been a member of RS in any way during his "life".
Do you believe that those who attain the same level of skill in a short amount of time will be recognized more over those who achieve it earlier? (Note that this applies only to the skills that members and f2p's need to access as otherwise it would be quite stupid to make comparisons. I also know that free skillcapes will require you to spend six dollars. Pf2p is a reference to someone who earned a 99 but only pays 6 dollars to purchase the skillcape. Not someone who waits to be 90 to switch to an account to gain faster levels.
In spite of the fact that there will always be people who want to minimize the achievements of others by labeling them as "nerds" and "no-lifers", it's an interesting question, as it requires a lot more time and effort to achieve the same level of skill as a pure free player compared to a member in the event that an unfair comparison is made.
But, it is common to say that the those skills that require more money (such cooking or firemaking) are also used by members. Members are more likely to spend time earning cash to buy the raw materials to power-level that ability. According to some, members earn money faster than pf2ps, who earn more money but earn less. This is a difficult topic because there are many variables involved. I'll detail the arguments that each side has.
