So many people were concerned about the influx of new players the WOW migration could bring, and who they could turn out to be. Every time I check out one of these blogs, I feel positive and want to say to those who were WOW vets, "Don't worry!" There are always bad eggs. They always will be. There were some already in the FFXIV Community. But there are plenty of great ones too. There are many sprouts looking for the same amazing adventure we've all had the amazing pleasure of experiencing.
However, we do have developers and mods who, in a variety of scale, encourage players to come at rude, or sexist behavior. Which has of course produced players who can't stand that sort of behavior, who transmit that attitude to others through the reporting of bad eggs swiftly, and so it all can feed into itself.
One of the new players also offered a valid point as I've heard that I don't consume his material - that FFXIV's storyline encourages the culture of its. Instead of telling a story about two players from different factions are fighting the story is about forgiveness and unity in the face of conflict. The truth is, when our biggest corporations fight, it's really just a game. the winner is hit by the dodgeball (Fire IV is the dodgeball. There is no dodging the dodgeball.) You will be told repeatedly by the official to go back to your starting zone before you are allowed to rejoin the battle. It's refreshing!
